We Know the IoT(Internet of things) is the next step to the smarter world, but IoT required the Raw data which need to sense from the environment and and some time need to process the data with the help of big data. In this blog we will talk on the same.
Sensors serve us to collect data, also push the data to the various other devices connected with the network.
A sensor is a device which detects or senses changes in the ambient conditions or we can says sensor detect the changes in the state of another device or a system, and forwards or processes this information in a certain manner.
In other word Device which sense or detect or measure physical property from the Enviroment and respond in the form of some signal.
Category of the sensor in the form of classes(Based on the type of Output)
- Analog
These types of sensor produces a continuous o/p signal which is normally proportional to the quantity which is being measured. Generally physical quantities are Temperature, pressure, Speed,Orientation, displacement are the type of analog quantity.
- Digital
These type of sensors give the output in discrete form which is in the form of voltage, These sensor produces the output in True/False or ON/OFF or 0/1 depends on the application. The advantage of these type of output is, we can store the output.
- Category of the sensor in the form of classes (Based on the types of Data or Data Types)
- Scalar
The sensors which produces the Signal which is proportional to the magnitude of the quantity being measured. The signal like Temperature.color, strain and pressure are comes under this type of quatity.
E.g The temperature of a place can be measured using a sensor, which responds to temperature changes irrespective of the orientation of the sensor.
- Vector
These sensor produce the signal which is proportional to the magnitude, direction or orientation. Physical quantity just like sound, image, orientation and velocity are all vector quantity. So here only magnitude is not sufficient to convey the complete information.e.g the acceleration of the car can be measured using acceleration sensor by calculating it x,y and z axes.
What are the types :
